Illegal Tube Sharing

One of the main reasons I decided to start a blog is because of the illegal tube sharing that is continually going on and I wanted to voice my opinion. Just recently, Joel Adams released a pack of tubes thru CILM and by the next morning, the tubes had been uploaded to a file sharing site and were being shared / downloaded with numerous others who hadn't paid for them. This pisses me off to no end. I work hard to earn my money to buy my tubes legally just as I expect the next person to do. What gives these people the right to do what they do? It is flat out stealing.

Sadly, if this continues to happen, we are going to see an increase in artists not allowing us to use their artwork. We're also going to see an increase in prices of tubes of the artists who are hanging in there because funds have to come from somewhere to pay for legal action against the thieves. No matter how you look at it, this hurts the artists, the licensing companies, and those of us who play by the rules and do the right thing by following TOU's. Those of us who do the right thing are no less victims than the artists who are being stolen from.

But what can we do? We can ban together as a community and say we aren't going to put up with this thievery anymore. If you know someone who is sharing illegal tubes, report them to the licensing company that sells the tubes. The longer we are silent, the more they will continue to steal and the greater the chance there will be that we will have to pay higher prices for our tubes, or face having no tubes at all to create with in the future. As Dan, mod for the CILM yahoo group said the other day..... "It starts with us". I for one will not stand for illegal tube sharing. What about you?
